Nieuw openbaar onderzoek gaat van start op 17 juni 2026

Naar aanleiding van de ontvangen adviezen tijdens het vorige openbaar onderzoek, werd bijkomende verduidelijking toegevoegd aan het projectdossier (het project is niet gewijzigd). Daarom zal een nieuw openbaar onderzoek georganiseerd worden dat van start gaat op 17 juni 2026 en loopt tot en met 16 juli 2026. Tijdens deze periode, die 30 dagen duurt, hebben omwonenden de kans om zich uit te spreken over dit project. Het hele dossier is raadpleegbaar via het Omgevingsloket of op het gemeentehuis van Gingelom.

Openbaar onderzoek gaat van start op 7 maart 2026

De omgevingsvergunningsaanvraag is volledig en ontvankelijk verklaard. Het openbaar onderzoek voor dit windturbineproject gaat van start op 7 maart 2026 en loopt tot en met 5 april 2026. Tijdens deze periode, die 30 dagen duurt, hebben omwonenden de kans om zich uit te spreken over dit project. Het hele dossier is raadpleegbaar via het Omgevingsloket of op het gemeentehuis van Gingelom.

Information session on 11 February 2026

On Wednesday 11 February 2026, ENGIE will organise an information session about the project at the Gingelom town hall. You are welcome to drop by with any questions between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Residents living near the project (within a radius of approximately 2.5 km) will receive an invitation in their mailbox in the coming days.

The project is currently going trough several procedures.

Request for modification

07/08/2020
On 7 August 2020, ENGIE Electrabel submitted a request for modification, aimed at addressing the recommendations of the Regional Environmental Permit Commission. No changes were made to the location, coordinates or dimensions of the wind turbines. You can download a summary presentation of the modification request at the bottom of this page.

As part of this modification request, a new public inquiry is being organised. This public inquiry starts on 1 September 2020 and runs until 30 September 2020. The modification request can be consulted at the Gingelom town hall.

Sabic inaugurates world's largest circular solar installation of its kind in Genk

In the presence of the mayor of Genk Wim Dries, SABIC today officially inaugurated the world's largest solar installation using fully recyclable materials at his site in Genk. The innovative solar panels from Dutch manufacturer Solarge are 100% recyclable and significantly lighter than traditional solar panels. ENGIE was responsible of the installation and financing.

ENGIE and Solarge install largest circular solar installation at SABIC in Genk

The innovative circular solar panels were developed and produced by SABIC and Solarge and they underwent extensive testing by ENGIE Laborelec, the Belgian research center of the ENGIE Group. ENGIE is also responsible for the installation, which will begin this summer, as well as the financing and maintenance of the panels.
