ENGIE Laborelec tests carbon capture in pilot unit
ENGIE Laborelec, the ENGIE Group’s Belgian R&D center, has installed a mobile carbon capture pilot unit at the Knippegroen power plant, located in the North Sea Port in Ghent. With this pilot unit, the Laborelec experts aim to gain a more accurate understanding of the future potential of carbon capture for ENGIE's activities and those of its industrial customers.

Closing of the agreement between ENGIE and the Belgian government
This final step following the European Commission’s approval on February 21 2025, resulted in the payment of the first instalment related to the transfer of responsibility for nuclear waste and spent fuel. The second instalment will be paid when the reactors restart in November 2025.

ENGIE and Carmeuse announce end of Columbus project due to economic and regulatory considerations
The project’s aim was to concentrate the CO₂ captured from an innovative type of lime kiln, and to combine it with green hydrogen to produce synthetic methane, a renewable gas that can be injected into the gas grid or used in the transport or industry sectors.
