Are wind turbines one of the main causes of bird mortality?
There is a lot of discussion about wind turbines and their impact on birds, but did you know that it is very rare for a bird to be killed by a collision with a wind turbine?
Wind turbines are not even in the top 10 causes of bird mortality. Cats, cars, and collisions with buildings cause far more bird deaths than wind turbines.
And that’s not all. Before a permit application is submitted, an environmental impact assessment is usually carried out by an independent and accredited consultancy. Measures may then be required to reduce the project’s impact on birdlife.
