Our strategy to accelerate the energy transition

The further integration of renewable electricity brings new challenges for balancing the energy system. ENGIE is therefore investing in different forms of flexibility, including flexible power generation and energy storage.

Today, ENGIE has approximately 5.1 GW of flexible generation and storage capacity in Belgium, including gas-fired generation units, the Coo pumped-storage power plant and battery storage.

ENGIE is further expanding this flexibility. The new Flémalle power plant provides 875 MW of flexible generation capacity, while the Vilvoorde battery park is operational with 200 MW / 800 MWh. In addition, battery projects in Kallo (100 MW), Drogenbos (80 MW) and Coo (74 MW) are under development.

At the same time, ENGIE continues to explore and optimise the flexibility potential of its customers.

Understanding and advising our customers has always been at the heart of what we do. It is therefore only natural that this remains central to our new strategy. We aim to offer tailor-made solutions that are not only energy-efficient but also meet the expectations of our residential and industrial customers in terms of comfort, ease of use, and financial accessibility.

We support our B2C customers in consuming their electricity when it is cheaper and less carbon-intensive.

For residential customers, we offer Empower Flextime, a flexible solution that:

• incorporates off-peak hours,
• helps reduce electricity bills,
• contributes to the balance of the electricity grid.

This solution is complemented by the Smart App, an intelligent application that informs, encourages, and motivates our customers to consume more efficiently and reduce their daily energy use. Because consuming more consciously and using less energy means contributing to the energy transition.

For our industrial customers, we also develop flexibility solutions and low-carbon energy supply offerings, tailored to meet their specific needs.

ENGIE is also committed to being a trusted partner for its customers, supporting them in their transition to low-carbon mobility and designing tailor-made energy solutions to meet their specific requirements.

As the operator, we are committed every day to nuclear safety and to ensuring the reliable availability of our facilities.

Thanks to the efforts of our teams, Doel 4 and Tihange 3 were reconnected to the grid at the end of November 2025, following carefully planned and rigorously executed work.
