A greener start to the school year for ULg students
These photovoltaic panels generate approximately 400,000 kWh per year, equal to the electricity consumed by 100 households. The generated energy will directly supply two electrical cabinets (without the electricity having to be reinjected into the grid) and will be sent to university buildings.
The project dovetails with the university’s desire to reduce its carbon footprint. ENGIE Cofely is also responsible for the technical maintenance of a cogeneration facility powered by pellets as well as two other motor/gas cogeneration units on the ULg campus. In total, these facilities will cut CO2 emissions by over 12,000 tonnes every year.
