The expertise of our teams, to improve business processes

Optimising the energy efficiency of data centers

ENGIE Cofely’s expertise in the area of data centres is well established. In 2015, it was once again selected by BNP Paribas Fortis to maintain, operate and monitor the energy consumption of two 1,500 m² data centres situated in Bastogne (now acquired by IBM). Project main objectives: ensure the availability of equipment and control the energy consumption of buildings. 24/7 presence is foreseen on 2 critical sites.

A 3D printer to serve industrial customers

Following a collaboration with KU Leuven, ENGIE Laborelec and the ENGIE Department of Research & Technology, the ENGIE Fabricom workspace in Zwijndrecht hosts since April 2016 a 3D printer to produce metal spare parts for its industrial customers.

World first at Brussels Airport

The Brussels Airport Connector houses what is a world first in terms of security. The screening process uses 25 new screening lanes, conveyor belts transporting the trays containing the passengers’ hand baggage and personal effects. ENGIE Fabricom is responsible for, among other things, providing on-call maintenance, servicing and spare parts.

A connector to facilitate transit at the airport

ENGIE Fabricom has participated in the construction of the Connector, a new building that provides a direct surface link between the terminal and Pier A, to improve the mobility and comfort of travelers at Brussels Airport. Thanks to the support of ENGIE Fabricom, the new structure (which has a surface of 32,850 m²) contains electrical installations, a power supply for the data networks, fire detection and even lightning protection. The lighting is LED which, combined with 1,500 m² of glass on the roof, enables electricity consumption to be reduced.

Baggage sorting system

After several years on the BSCA (Brussels South Charleroi Airport) site, ENGIE Cofely has signed a new maintenance and operation contract (multi-technical management) for the baggage sorting system at the airport. The new 5-year mission will involve 15 technicians and 2 foremen who will alternate shifts on a 24/7 basis to carry out both preventive and corrective maintenance work. The missions of ENGIE Cofely teams are also extended to the management of waste.

Combined heat an power at Nitto

ENGIE Cofely and ENGIE Fabricom install at Nitto, manufacturer of adhesives, a 1,500 kW combined heat and power unit intended mainly for the production process; the heat generated will be used to warm the air needed to dry materials during the manufacturing process. ENGIE Cofely will also be responsible for the maintenance for 10 years. The commissioning of the facility will be effective in February 2017.

Heat and electricity for Sibelga

ENGIE Cofely installed two cogeneration units for Sibelga, the Brussels distribution networks operator. Both gas engine type facilities will annually produce 1,400 MWh of electricity. These are the 9th and 10th facilities ENGIE Cofely realized for Sibelga who can now count on a decentralized electricity production of 15,000 MWh per year. The electricity produced allows to compensate the losses occurring on its distribution network. As for the heat, it is used to heat large apartment complexes, a school and museums. Each year 2,000 tonnes of CO2 are saved by these 10 cogeneration plants.
